The May Day massacre

The UK went to the polls on Thursday (their time) in local body elections. Now the final results are in, and they can only be described as a massacre for the Labour Party. Not only did they lose over 300 council seats (15% of their total); they also say Boris the Buffoon beat Red Ken for the London mayoralty.

Gordon Brown is trying to put a brave face on it, but basically the electorate has just given him the finger and signalled defeat at the next election. And who can blame them? After the betrayals of Iraq, BAE, and raising taxes on the poor while bailing out the rich, it's pretty clear that New Labour has abandoned its values. And for that, they deserve to lose.
