Submit!

The Social Services Committee has called for submissions on the Sale of Liquor (Objections to Applications) Amendment Bill. Two copies, by Friday, 15 August 2008, to

Social Services Committee Secretariat
Parliament Buildings
Wellington
The bill would broaden the scope for objection to liquor licences, require applicants to file social impact reports, and essentially make the question of whether a licence is granted a political rather than procedural one - inviting corruption, favouring larger applicants over smaller ones, and generally turning back the clock on two decades of progress towards a more mature drinking culture.

Making a submission is as easy as writing a letter stating whether you support or oppose the bill, and giving reasons why. The Clerk has a handy guide here.
