Says it all

A revealing exchange from Question Time yesterday:

SUE MORONEY (Labour) to the Minister of Women’s Affairs: Was she consulted over the Government’s decision to “discontinue” pay equity investigations for social workers and school support staff?

Hon PANSY WONG (Minister of Women’s Affairs): As I advised the member in my answer of 3 March to her written question, no.

And that's women under National: sidelined and ignored, even (especially?) on the issues that matter to them most. You have to wonder why they have a Minister of Women's Affairs at all, but I guess the symbolism of scrapping it would be a bit too overt even for them.
