Freed!

Some good news from Afghanistan:

Sayed Pervez Kambaksh, the student sentenced to death in Afghanistan for trying to promote women's rights, has been freed from prison. The Independent has learned that he is now living outside the country after being secretly pardoned by President Karzai.
Karzai unquestionably did the right thing - Kambaksh's "trial" was a travesty of justice, and his death sentence outrageous. But the fact that the pardon had to be issued in secret, and Kambaksh smuggled out of the country, speaks volumes about how dire the human rights situation in Afghanistan, and the magnitude of America's failure there.
