Creationism evolves

Salon has an intersting piece about how "intelligent design" has evolved in the wake of its court loss a few years ago. Some have regressed straight back into the young-earth creationists we knew they were all along, while others have decided to remove all talk of intelligence or design, and try instead to force teachers to "teach the controversy" - a controversy which, like that of climate change deniers, really only exists in their own minds. But the ultimate aim here isn't to inform students about genuine scientific disagreement, but to create the perception of disagreement where there is none, and so leave students confused and ignorant. It's a classic PR tool, used by the tobacco and climate change denial industries, as well as every polluter under the sun. Unfortunaely, in the US, it seems PR gets to masquerade as "education"...
